Women Build is a Habitat Wake program and part of a national effort to build affordable housing that is primarily funded and constructed by woman. Each project is designed as a female-friendly work site that empowers women to take leadership roles and learn new skills while building a home. Women Build is supported by diverse groups of women including professionals, students, congregations, management teams, community leaders, book clubs, garden clubs, friends, and neighbors who come together to fund the entire build project.
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County builds safe, affordable houses for qualified homebuyers regardless of race, religion, or background. Each Habitat home is built in partnership with homeowner families, sponsors, and volunteers. Habitat houses are are sold for no profit to the partner family through an affordable 20-year zero percent interest mortgage. Habitat Wake will build 32 homes in Wake County this year. For each home built in Wake County, a home is built in Honduras. Another 35 local families will receive assistance through Habitat Wake's "A Brush With Kindness" exterior repair program. Financial support comes from corporate, faith and individual sponsors, the Habitat Wake ReStores, the DeConstruction program, and other charitable efforts.
