Unmanned Vehicle University Announces UAV Propulsion Systems Course
Dr Emaid Retha holds the BS, MS and PhD degrees in aeronautical engineering and has over 34 years of experience including 20 years of UAV engine design experience. The course is totally online, open to the public and is part of the Masters and Doctorate in Unmanned Systems Engineering Degree programs at Unmanned Vehicle University. UAVs use multiple types of propulsion systems. The UAV Propulsion Systems Course requires a basic knowledge of mathematics, numerical modeling and physics of thermodynamics, work and heat transfer and is intended as a first course that provides in-depth understanding of state-of-the-art propulsion issues for UAVs, including propulsion options, cycle analysis, and principles of operation, systems, components, and performance and efficiency calculations. Also the theories of aero-engines and their related background in aerodynamics, thermodynamics and stress analysis are presented. System as well as component engineering aspects of engine aero-thermo-mechanical design is examined. Unmanned Aircraft Systems alternative power will be discussed. The course targeted audience is UAV propulsion engineers, UAV aircraft designers, UAV industry managers, educators, and research and development engineers from the relevant agencies.
