Art Slant/Chicago has named a colorful abstract titled "Rainbow Forms" by Karen I. Hirsch as a winner in Showcase 7. This digital image was entered in the category of new media. The Showcase Series has eight rounds per year with different stages of winning status. International curators, gallery owners, and other art professionals conduct the reviews. For each Showcase competition, an artist is only allowed to enter one image. "Rainbow Forms" was recently included in Hirsch's solo exhibit, "Shape, Rattle & Roll" at the Millennium Fine Art Gallery in Chicago
About the artist:
Karen I. Hirsch is an award-winning visual artist based in Chicago. Her sense of color and design is evident in her photography and abstract digital paintings. The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Illinois Arts Council awarded her with art grants. In 2007, the Government of China honored Hirsch by inviting her to be one of ten foreign photographers to document the city of Rizhao. Hirsch’s work has been published in books, magazines, and newspapers including the Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Magazine, Communication Arts and Graphis photo annuals.
Hirsch is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers and immediate past president of Fort Dearborn-Chicago Photo Forum. Her prints are found in corporate and private collections.
