Stephen Blackman invited to speak at OLEDs World Summit 2013
BlackJack Lighting President and Chief Design Officer Stephen Blackman is scheduled to speak at the 15th annual OLEDs World Summit 2013 in San Francisco Sept. 17-19. The OLEDs World Summit is the longest-running, preeminent technical event dedicated exclusively to the OLEDs industry. The event connects scientists, analysts, R&D professionals, materials suppliers, architects, designers, manufacturers and CEOs.
Blackman is one of approximately 30 experts appearing at this year’s event. Other companies and organizations sending speakers include Sony, Konica Minolta, the China OLED Industry Alliance, Panasonic, Philips and Korea’s Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU).
With more than 30 years of experience and a vast portfolio of lighting designs sold by America’s largest lighting manufacturers, Blackman is an industry-leading designer and thinker whose ideas have shaped and influenced how lighting fixtures look and perform. He began BlackJack Lighting this year to design and produce solid state decorative lighting.
Blackman’s interest and expertise in SSL technology date back to client projects from the 1990s. Today he is working with OLEDs, a revolutionary surface light source that is about as thick as a US nickel. Blackman immediately saw the design possibilities for decorative OLED lamps and fixtures. In 2012, he designed the award-winning Vela chandelier for WAC LIGHTING, which uses 24 OLED panels. With major LED product introductions set for October and January 2014, BlackJack Lighting is destined to become a global industry leader in performance decorative lighting.
