Employees will collect canned goods and other nonperishable food items from now until Monday, November 25, at which time the food will be delivered to their respective organizations. The problem could be exacerbated in 2014 by potential cuts in federal food aid, with a congressional conference committee debating a farm bill which could cut at least $4 billion from the federal food stamp program.

“These organizations have traditionally relied on the generosity of local communities, whether it is business support or individual participation. Especially around the holidays, there is a need to make sure everyone gets a decent meal so we are fortunate to be able to contribute,” added Kogelman.
