Information Security Body confirms SSD claims test methodology for Data Erasure.

PORT TALBOT, U.K. -- London, UK – September 9th, 2013.  Europe’
s premier organisation dedicated to highlighting IT security risks when disposing of assets confirms their Claims test methodology for the secure data erasure and sanitisation of SSD (Solid State Drive) in conjunction the Information Security Research Group at University of South Wales.

The ADISA product claims test service is designed to help verify the claims made about data sanitisation tools.

Each test has a published test methodology which controls the testing process for test claim. The testing process is underpinned by the ADISA Threat Matrix. The threat matrix defines a series of capabilities and risks that various threat agents can pose on the security of a device. The test levels define a series of capabilities that a threat actor/agent may wish to bring against a media type and are outlined.

Threat Actor and Compromise Methods

Casual or opportunistic threat actor only able to mount high-level non-invasive and non-destructive software attacks utilising freeware, OS tools and COTS products.

Commercial data recovery organisation able to mount non-invasive and non-destructive software attacks and hardware attacks.

Commercial computer forensics organisation able to mount both non-invasive/non-destructive and invasive/ non-destructive software and hardware attack, utilising COTS products.

Commercial data recovery and computer forensics organisation able to mount both non-invasive/non-destructive and invasive/ non-destructive software and hardware attack, utilising both COTS and bespoke utilities.

Government-sponsored organisations using advanced techniques to mount all types of software and hardware attacks with unlimited time and resources to recover sanitised data.

The lack of a global approvals programme has caused anguish within the IT Asset Disposal industry for many years, the methodology published by ADISA will bring an opportunity to Data Erasure Software vendors to put test their Claims of secure data erasure of SSD (Solid State Hard Drives) and having a verified independent test will add more weight to the Methodology and those who test against it.

Welcoming the news, Daniel Dyer, Tabernus VP of European Operations comments, “This will bring significant benefits to the IT Asset Disposal Industry. Our partners will have access to the latest practices for erasing different media types in the ITAD industry while their clients will have the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the company disposing of their IT assets is working to the highest standards.”

With a common goal of compliance and certified end of life chain of custody and erasure, both parties agree that the ADISA SSD Claims testing methodology is a great step in making sure that data is secure, whoever handles it.

Both Organisations will be exhibiting at the E-Scrap Conference 11-12th September 2013

iSolar Exchange Offers Private Sales Exchange Networks to Connect Solar Buyers & Sellers Online

The iSolar Exchange online marketplace is designed to create a secure site that connects the entire supply, manufacture, and delivery channels for solar and renewable energy products and services - worldwide. iSolar Exchange is an open supply channel. All members can participate and engage with channel members up or down the supply chain.

The iSolar Exchange moves the solar and renewable industry purchasing cycle online, where transactions can happen instantaneously, with far better financial results for both Buyers and Sellers.

iSolar Exchange is the only global solar marketplace to offer Private Sales Exchange Networks for both Forward and Reverse (RFQ) Auctions and Competitive Sealed Bids. Buyers or Sellers can create their own Private Sales Exchange Networks and conduct business outside of public view.

Private Sales Exchange Networks provide a Forward Auction sales channel out of public view. Manufacturers can liquidate excessive inventories, seconds, returns, B-grade materials and excess or underutilized manufacturing equipment and invite their own list of private pre-qualified Buyers.

Completely anonymous to the general public, only invited Buyers or Sellers can bid or see the Auction. Sellers can liquidate inventories and surplus products in private to pre-qualified invited buyers without publishing and undercutting their public market pricing.

Manufacturers, EPC's and Solar Developers using Private Sales Exchange Reverse (RFQ) Auctions can invite pre-qualified solar manufacturers and contractors to bid on projects, all in private using real time competitive bidding between Sellers. Buyers also have the choice to use the more traditional "Competitive Sealed Bids" according to Michael Gumm, iSolar Exchange's Founder.

As a founder of two solar manufacturing companies it became apparent to me, the solar industry is still a highly fragmented supply chain making it difficult for Buyers and Sellers to connect and for manufacturers to penetrate new markets, especially in new rapidly shifting and growing overseas markets.

With the solar industry sitting atop a huge global inventory of solar modules. iSolar Exchange provides a direct sales channel for Buyers and Sellers in North America, South American, Asia, Africa and Europe to connect and to do deals instantly while reducing the cost of both sales and procurement transaction cost, with savings up to 25%.

The public Forward Auction Portal offers advanced sales features such as "Name Your Own Price", "Buy Now", Proxy or Automatic Bidding and "Item Notification"
for specific products that come up for bid in addition to standard Forward and Dutch auction bidding.

There are no membership fees; registration is free at iSolar Exchange. Transaction cost is 1% or less for Sellers, there are no transaction fees for Buyers.

Unlike some other competitive in-car connected vehicle systems currently on the market, VW Car-Net is offered with all features as standard with each subscription, including Agent Destination Assist. When applicable, most of these features can be accessed three different ways: in-car, via the dedicated VW Car-Net buttons on the overhead console; by visiting the VW Car-Net Web Portal (www.vw.com/carnet); or, through the VW Car-Net Mobile App on a customer's iPhone® (Android® version coming soon), which can be downloaded from the Apple® App Store.

Fry became the first full-time mold inspector in the USA, starting his nationwide mold inspection business in 1999, two years ahead of most people even becoming aware of the health dangers of exposure to toxic mold as the result of Dan Rather’s “48 Hours” magazine program on CBS-TV in 2001 that reported in detail about the Stachybotrys mold infestation problem that ruined the health of a young family living in a newly-constructed, mold-infested home in Dripping Springs, Texas.

The EnviroFry team utilizes the latest and best high-tech methods and equipment to find, kill, and remove toxic mold growth that may be hidden inside walls, ceilings, floors, attics, basements, crawl spaces, and heating/cooling equipment and ducts. For example, EnviroFry kills mold with high output ozone gas and EPA-registered fungicides as part of comprehensive and complete mold remediation.

Dawn Stach of the Glen Ed Pantry states “I’d like to thank Junior Service for their continued support of the Pantry. Their donation of $4,500 will allow us to continue providing students in need with school supplies, book bags, PE uniforms and athletic shoes.”

The Junior Service Club contributes both financial and volunteer support to the Glen Ed Panty by assisting with canned food drives and also with their recent Toy Sorting Event. Members of the Junior Service Club recently teamed up with members of the Glen Ed Pantry to collect and sort Christmas gifts for over 200 children in need. Dawn Stach from the Glen Ed Pantry states, “I would like to thank all the volunteers who are making Christmas merry for many children. When the Junior Service Club came in and sorted toys on Saturday, they got so much done in a short period of time. I really appreciated it!” Deserving parents will soon have the opportunity to shop for their children through the Glen Ed Pantry on December 19. As well as toys, they will receive gloves, hats, scarves plus a Christmas food basket. Susan Kurilla, coordinated the effort for the Junior Service Club by setting up a giving tree at Wal-Mart and collecting the donations. “We are happy to have the opportunity to help out the pantry, especially around the holidays. We want every child to have gifts when they wake up Christmas morning and enjoy a nice meal,” stated Susan.

The Glen Ed Pantry is one of many recipients of the fundraising efforts of the Junior Service Club. All money raised throughout the year stays within our community. Our next event is the 3rd Annual Dinner Auction on February 9, 2013 at Sunset Hills Country Club. The event will again feature music by Dr. Zhivegas, dinner, premium bar, silent and live auction items. The public is welcome and more information can by found on our website at www.edglenjuniorservice.org.

Basilica of Collemaggio, Eni signs an agreement with L'Aquila

Eni signs an agreement with the city of L’Aquila for the restoration of the Basilica of Santa Maria Collemaggio and the redevelopment of the Parco del Sole. With the signing of this agreement, Eni is committing to allocating the economic resources necessary for the realisation of the project, expected to amount to approximately € 14 million, as well as providing the technical and project management expertise necessary to complete the restoration and redevelopment.

Today signifies the conclusion of the celebrations connected with Celestine’s Pardon in L’Aquila. The occasion has been marked with the signing of an agreement between Eni and the City Council, which will kick start the renovation of the Basilica of Santa Maria Collemaggio and the environmental redevelopment of the Parco del Sole.

Eni is undertaking this architectural and town planning commitment in order to return these landmarks to the city and therefore enable the local community to regain a symbolic feature at the heart of the cultural and religious life of this area.

Following last year’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding entitled “Starting afresh from Collemaggio”
, Eni and the City Council embarked on the preliminary phase of technical investigations and historical research. These investigations, which are conducted by the University of L’Aquila, the Politecnico di Milano and Rome’s La Sapienza University, are aimed at setting the framework required to address subsequent design and planning actions.

With the signing of this agreement, Eni is committing to allocating the economic resources necessary for the realisation of the project, expected to amount to approximately € 14 million, as well as providing the technical and project management expertise necessary to complete the restoration and redevelopment.

The works will focus primarily on safety, seismic improvements and the restoration of the Basilica, and will also include the redevelopment of the nearby Parco del Sole.

The construction phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

The restoration process will be followed by a digital project – available athttp://ungiornoacollemaggio.it/ and #ungiornoacollemaggio – through which people can share testimonies, memories and wishes related to the Basilica.

Sonoma Energy Capital Prepares for Newest Development in the Heart of the Illinois Basin Oil Boom

Sonoma Energy Capital is preparing for its forth drilling venture in biggest oil boom in the history of the Illinois Basin. With the recent application of hydraulic fracturing, the Illinois Basin now finds itself in what is being called the next "Eagleford Shale". "We staked our claim in Southern Illinois well ahead of the "land rush" of the big oil companies", said Bob Nelson, President of Sonoma Energy Capital. "We have acquired access to 480 acres on a "Class A" structure that has already produced 5 million barrels of oil above 3000 feet".  Substantial and sustain oil production is common with that application of  hydraulic fracturing on structures where it was once considered unconventional.  Sonoma Energy Capital has assembled an elite team of  oil and gas professionals including it's operator who began deep drilling in the Illinois Basin back in the 1970's. These awards include " Wildcatter of the Year" for a well with initial oil production of 800 barrels of oil per day. The Maunie 4 well will be the forth drilling venture of 24 wells planned for Sonoma Energy Capital in the Southern Illinois basin.

Kathy Clark, a.k.a. Bob Kat, wins two awards in the 2013 Readers’ Favorite annual book awards.

The Readers’ Favorite is the fastest growing book review and award contest site on the Internet and was the recipient of the "Honoring Excellence" and "Best Websites for Authors" awards by the Association of Independent Authors.  Readers’
Favorite has reviewed for renowned authors and publishers like Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster and Bachette and authors James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks and David Baldacc.  Laura T., Publicist for Random House Publishing said about Readers Favorite, “We have enjoyed working with Readers' Favorite these past years. They provide timely and honest reviews and go the extra mile by posting reviews on social media sites like Facebook and trade sites like Barnes & Noble and Google Books.”

“Seeing all three books in our Young Adult time travel mystery series receive 98% 5 star ratings is exciting but being picked first in a direct head-to-head competition against others in the same genre is awesome,” said Kathy’s co-writer and husband, Bob Wernly.

Bob went on to say, “BRB [Be Right Back], Book #2 of the CUL8R Time Travel Mystery/Romance series is different than most time travel books as the four teens look to change the past and save the future but not for their own benefit.”

Four high school friends are able to do two things no one else on the planet can do . . . talk with dead people and time travel to the past. It’s early summer and boredom is setting in. They have just returned from an adventure where they travelled through time back to 1966 to solve a mystery and save a popular high school girl’s life.

Kelly, Scott, Austin and Zoey gather in Scott’s lab, listening to the old radio that Thomas Edison had invented and called “The Telephone to the Dead”. As they slowly turn the dial they hear hundreds of sad, lonely voices of souls that have passed but apparently never moved on, pleading for help. When they first discovered the radio in Kelly’s aunt’s garage, they had been touched by the cries and pleas coming from its speakers, but they had no way to go back in time to help them. That is, until Scott reveals an invention of his own . . . a time travel app. They’ve tested it only once, but that first trip had been successful . . . if you ignore the fact that Zoey and Kelly had almost gotten killed by a serial killer. Even though they returned with a few scrapes and bruises, they are eager to go on a new adventure and help solve another mystery.

A very young girl speaking in Spanish cries out to them, saying her whole family has been murdered on an island just off the east coast of Florida. Kelly understands a little Spanish, so she is able to communicate with the girl, but not able to get some very important details. It’s difficult to investigate a crime that hasn't happened yet.
The teens look the island up on Google Maps and see that it is completely deserted which contradicts the story they’re getting from the Spirit Radio. But it’s a beautiful island called Crystal Key with a stretch of beach that, unlike Ft. Myers Beach, is not crowded with tourists and kids. The teens decide to pop in, spend a nice day on the beach, check out the island to see if there is any truth to the girl’s story, then pop right back. It sounds like a great plan.

From the very beginning, things go wrong when Scott miscalculates their landing and they end up splashing into the Atlantic Ocean. After swimming for their lives, they collapse on the beach that is, indeed, beautiful. But it isn’t deserted. They find the little girl, her family and a half dozen more people living in a sprawling Florida-style home owned by a menacing man named Manuel. He gives them no opportunity to escape and insists that they stay in the house. What they discover during their visit is enough to almost get them all killed.

As they struggle to survive, Kelly tries to ignore her attraction to Austin, who clearly isn’t interested in a romance. Besides, just days before she went on her very first date . . . with Scott. How could she have such strong feelings for two boys? And then there is Zoey who is hot for Austin, but flirting shamelessly with Scott. Then people start dying and all they can think about is saving the families and themselves. Are they destined to be a madman’s latest victims? Their time travel adventure to a tropical paradise may turn out to be their last.

“After Midnight is a story of street cops in Denver’s toughest area and is about what started as a routine contact stop and how and why it turned into a brutal double homicide,” Kathy said.

Officer Sam Morgan had worked for the Denver PD for five years, most of which were spent patrolling the streets around the State Capitol. He’s seen his share of druggies, dealers and hookers, but since some of them were his best sources, he normally wasn’t quick to arrest them.

On a hot June Saturday night, Sam was sharing his patrol car with a ridealong, which could be a blessing or a curse. Things went smoothly until they came face-to-face with a hooker and her pimp. Sam stopped to talk to the pair, but when his backup arrived, the atmosphere changed from curious to angry and aggressive. Suddenly, the pimp pulled a gun, and after exchanged gunfire, the other police officer and the pimp were both dead and Sam was seriously wounded. The ridealong had saved the day by retrieving a dropped pistol and shooting the pimp before he can get a fatal shot at Sam. In the confusion, the prostitute disappeared into the night.

The ridealong, Brian, a reporter for The Denver Post writes a compelling first-hand account of the incident which turns out to be his big break.

Kate, the hooker, tries to convince Sam, as he recovers from his wounds that she isn’t a really a prostitute, but he doesn't believe her. She tells him she’s an actress, hired by the dead pimp to be on the streets that night for the filming of a TV show. As the weeks pass and it becomes clear that someone is out to either frighten her enough to leave Denver or to kill her, Sam begins to believe her story.

Joining together, the cop and the actress uncover many inconsistencies and even more suspects. Along the way, they also discover a sexual attraction that quickly turns into even more than either of them had bargained for.

As they get closer to the truth, the threat escalates until Kate finds herself fighting for her life. It’s up to Sam to save her, but will he be in time?
Hooker to lover or low-life to no-life. It’s all in his hands.

Readers' Favorite was founded by Debra Gaynor to provide readers and authors with a resource for free quality reviews and to offer authors the opportunity to obtain more recognition and exposure through a respected annual book award contest.

Koubachi announces Wi-Fi Plant Sensor Pro

Koubachi keeps pushing out innovation after innovation! Only ten months after launching the “Wi-Fi Plant Sensor Outdoor”, Koubachi presents a sensor specifically tailored to the requirements of pro users. Like the Indoor and Outdoor sensors it measures light intensity, ambient temperature and soil moisture. In addition, the “Wi-Fi Plant Sensor Pro” also measures soil temperature and air humidity, once again setting the definitive standard for plant sensors.

“We have many requests from professional gardeners, growers and hobbyists who want to use our superior soil moisture sensors for their work.” explains Philipp Bolliger, CEO of Koubachi and adds: “For this reason we developed this pro product, based on their requests and feedbacks”.

The Pro sensor comes with a Web App specifically for the requirements of professional users (pro.koubachi.com). It allows to list all sensors, view and download the raw data, adjust the measuring and transmission intervals and much more.

Pro users can of course still use the Koubachi App and take advantage of the Plant Care Engine (PCE) and the tailored plant specific care advices sent by Koubachi, telling you not only when but also how to care for your plant, based on scientifically developed algorithms.

But what is it, that makes the Koubachi Wi-Fi Plant Sensor so special? Well, first Koubachi is the only plant sensor on the market with a Wi-Fi connection. Only Koubachi can send all relevant plant specific care information and data to the customer (per push notification or mail) at all times, not matter where you are.

Moreover, Koubachi is the only product using a patented soil moisture sensor technology that works like a tensiometer. This technique simulates the plants’ roots, measuring the amount of water that is actually available to the plant, and that’s what matters to the plant. This method works in various substrates, ranging from normal soil mixtures, to sand, peat, clay granulates, and even to orchid substrates. And unlike other sensors, the soil moisture sensor of Koubachi is not affected by the salinity of the soil, which for example increases when fertilizer is added.

Not only scientific experiments carried out at ETH Zurich proof the great quality of the Koubachi Wi-Fi Plant Sensor, but also customers from all around the globe are convinced of the product: “Wow! I never thought, that such a small device could help me so much! Unfortunately I do not have a green thumb ... but I have a Koubachi now!” states Lorena on Koubachi Facebook’s wall, adding “It has saved already 3 plants .. and my orchids look fabulous!! I can only recommend Koubachi”.

Koubachi Wi-Fi Plant Sensor Pro will be available later this year. For more information visit the website or sign-up to the pro newsletter at www.koubachi.com/features/pro.

And that’s not all. Koubachi kept further developing the consumer business as well, releasing a new native App (beta) for Android in English and German in time for the IFA 2013. Together with the popular iOS App and the Web App, Koubachi is now able to offer its service on all most important devices. And as always with Koubachi, you can get started by just downloading the app for free.
