November 2013 – Ahhromas Pizza will be hosting its inaugural “Pajama People Pizza Run” fundraiser on Saturday, January 18, 2014. This event will raise money for Youth Mentoring and Fitness Programs at First Nations Community Healthsource where 100% of proceeds will benefit First Nations.
The race will start and finish at Hoffmantown Church and go along the Albuquerque Academy exterior trail. Registration starts at 11:00 a.m. and race to begin at 12:30 p.m., rain, snow or shine. The registration fee is $29 for all participants. All race participants and supporters are invited to run in their crazy Pajamas and once finished running, to enjoy wood fired pizza and hot chocolate. There will be an the awards ceremony to present awards to the top three finishers in each category. We will have former contestants from “The Biggest Loser” show talk on health and fitness.
Kids are welcome to enjoy fun on the jumpy as well as music and face-painting. This event is designed for the whole family to enjoy!

Ghostlight: According to backstage lore, the ghost of a Ziegfeld Follies star haunts the New Amsterdam Theatre. Ghostlight excavates the true story of Olive Thomas, a small-town girl who rises to headline alongside Fanny Brice. Seduced by the decadent world of the theatre, Olive stumbles into a secret affair, an unfulfilling Hollywood marriage, and a downward spiral into drugs and alcohol. An homage to Broadway’s Golden Age, Ghostlight captures the glamorous and tragic lives of those who changed the face of the American musical forever. Ghostlight had a sold-out and extended run at the Signature Theatre as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2011. It was directed by Tim Realbuto and Matthew Martin, who also collaborated on the book, music and lyrics together.
An industry reading of the show will take place on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the famed New 42nd Street Studios, directed again by the creators Martin and Realbuto. Alison Holman (who co-wrote the musical Freedom's Song) will provide musical direction.

A new Buddhist temple in Hollywood will have its grand opening on November 29, 2013. The New Kadampa Meditation Center is one of more than 1200 Kadampa Centers and groups in 40 countries throughout the world devoted to studying and practicing the teachings of Buddha. The new temple is located at 4953 Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles, California.
Opening festivities throughout the Thanksgiving weekend include public talks by internationally renowned Buddhist teacher Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong on the subjects of compassion and wisdom, the practical methods for improving the quality of the mind, and how to improve relationships with others.
Resident teacher and American Buddhist Monk, Gen Rigpa, says the teaching and tools that will be offered at the Temple “can help everyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, occupation, religion, philosophy, way of life or background.
